Good day at the office for Sheedy and Tipp

Even in the aftermath of the three successive defeats prior to last Sunday, Liam Sheedy never looked if he was under pressure by those negative results.

It provided a sense that Tipperary were playing the long game in focusing on the championship which is the ultimate goal and certainly with the performance witnessed at Pairc Ui Rinn last Sunday, it had more than a summer hue about it.

“It was a good result but aside from the result it was a good performance,” said the Portroe man.

“We moved the ball well. There was a bit of flow about us today. We were working hard in the middle area because that's an area, Cork if you give them time. We worked that area well. We've some really good players, when they get on the ball, they can do really good things. 0-16 in the first half, 1-13 in the second is a good summation of the day.”

The only negative aspect from the performance was the sloppy finish with Cork outscoring Tipp 1-7 to 0-3 in the final fifteen minutes, despite the home side being down to fourteen men.

However, the job had long been completed with no doubt a little fatigue coming into play late on after the training camp last week which seemed to have the desired effect, particularly with their use of the ball, which led to a two-fold increase in their scoring rate.

“There was some lads giving out about us saying we weren't able to score any more and things like,” added Sheedy to the recent criticism of his side following the losses to Limerick, Wexford and Kilkenny.
