No separating Portroe and Roscrea
Portroe 1-18
Roscrea 0-21
A 50-50 game in the build-up proved to be so on the pitch as Roscrea and Portroe couldn’t be separated following a very entertaining County Senior Hurling Championship group 4 clash on Sunday.
Roscrea mounted a stirring fight back in the last ten minutes, coming from five points down to take the lead in injury time before a John Sheedy free rescued a draw for Portroe who had dominated most of the second half. Roscrea still had a chance to win the game as Luke Cashin stood over a 40 yard free but the youngster, who had been brilliant from placed balls up to that, saw his shot fly wide and his side had to make do with a draw.
When Aidan Willis goaled on 43 minutes to put Portroe 1-14 to 0-12 in front, Roscrea would have gladly taken a point at that stage as Port upped a gear at the start of the second half, despite playing against the breeze.
