Ardfinnan a bridge too far for Kiladangan
Ardfinnan 0-9
Kiladangan 0-2

Less than 48 hours after qualifying for the North senior hurling quarter final, Kiladangan lined out against Ardfinnan in the county senior football championship on Sunday afternoon and it was a step too far for the North boys who were seven points adrift of Ardfinnan at the finish.
More than half the team was involved in both games, a tall order asking amateur players to play two such important ties in such a short time, particularly so early in the year. On top of that county man Dan O'Meara was unable to start for Kiladangan and while they battled as bravely as one has come to expect of them, the reality is that Ardfinnan, last years county finalists, always looked likely winners and were not flattered by the winning margin.
Originally fixed for Boherlahan, the time of the game was initially changed before it was later switched to the West Tipp venue, a considerable journey for the Kiladangan lads and an unfamiliar venue. However, those issues had nothing to do with the performance as Kiladangan were playing second fiddle to their opponents much of the way and in fact failed to register a score from play throughout the game.
