Holycross/Ballycahill got the better of Shannon Rovers by the minimum in a hugely entertaining Junior ‘A’ League final on Saturday that required extra before it was decided in the Mid sides favour, but only just

Rovers first half performance was poor and they were rocked by the concession of two early goals. Reduced to 14 players when full forward Paula Hannigan was red carded and eight points down, matters worsened for the Shannonsiders with a third goal from their opponents and a couple of points to see Holycross on the home stretch with a thirteen point lead after 36 minutes.

However, the reduction to 14 players brought out the resilience for the Rovers asthey hauled themselves back and turning the game on its head, shocking even their own supporters, they managed to take the game to extra time.
