MUNSTER SENIOR HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP
Munster hurling championship action returned with aplomb to Semple Stadium on Sunday last, when Tipperary took to the Field of Legends against Waterford in their round 2 decider. By close of play Tipperary had eased to victory on a 2-10 to 0-18 score-line. Tipp’s goals, sublime second half creations, were scored by Jason Forde (Silvermines) and Seamus Callanan (Drom & Inch) before an attendance of 22,833.
Man of the Match for the second week in a row went to a Tipperary player with Jason Forde collecting the honours after his display in which he scored 1-9.
Congratulations also to Robert Byrne (Portroe) on making his championship debut when introduced in the second half.
Sunday's result was the first time Tipp hit 30 points against Waterford in the championship and was also the first time Tipp got 32 scores against Waterford in the championship.
Next Sunday is a free weekend in Munster, before Tipperary travel to Ennis on June 2nd to play Clare in Round 3 of the Munster Championship when throw-in will be at 4pm.
MUNSTER MINOR HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP
The Tipperary minor hurling team got the defence of their Electric Ireland Munster Minor Hurling Championship back on track with a 3-15 to 2-15 victory over Waterford in the first match in Semple Stadium last Sunday. The Tipp goals came courtesy of Jack Leamy (Golden-Kilfeacle) (penalty), Conor McKelvey (Silvermines) and Stephen Ferncombe (Clonoulty-Rossmore).
The win brings Paul Collins' side right in the mix and echo's the start of last year's title run. With Limerick and Cork drawing in the other minor fixture last Sunday, Tipp's next outings away to Clare on June 2nd and home to Limerick on June 16th will be of huge importance.
Waterford manager Daragh Duggan is a native of Holycross-Ballycahill and has previously coached Dungarvan Colleges to Harty Cup and Croke Cup success in 2013. Included in that side are a number of current Waterford senior panellists.
CAMOGIE
Commiserations to the Tipperary Intermediate Camogie team that lost 1-12 to 1-8 to Cork in the Munster Final last Saturday in Charleville with Grace O'Toole (Newport-Ballinahinch) getting the Tipp goal in the second half.
All roads lead to Cashel GAA Grounds this Saturday, May 25th, for the Munster Senior Camogie Final where Tipperary will play Cork with throw-in at 4pm. We send best wishes to the team and management and hope there is a great crowd in Cashel to support the side.
LADIES GAELIC FOOTBALL
In the Munster Intermediate Ladies Football Championship best wishes to Tipperary when they take on Clare also this Saturday at 2pm in Seán Treacy Park, Tipperary. Again, a great crowd in support of the team would be much appreciated.
CELTIC CHALLENGE
In the Bank of Ireland Celtic Challenge, Tipperary Gold (West and South Tipperary) defeated Kilkenny Amber in Cashel on Wednesday last on a score-line of Tipperary Gold 2-15 Kilkenny Amber 3-11. Their next game is against Cork City in Golden this Wednesday 22nd May at 7:30pm.
On the same night in Group A, Tipperary Blue (North and Mid Tipperary) will play Galway Maroons also at 7:30pm with this match going ahead in Lorrha. Last week Tipperary Blue had a fine 1-22 to 2-10 win over Clare Saffrons. Best of luck to both teams this Wednesday evening.

Cathaoirleach Josephine Cahill and Mark Dunne represented Tipperary at the Scór General Meeting and Youth Forum last Saturday in bPairc an Chrocaigh. It was a very positive meeting with many changes and updates decided upon. The key focus of the day was to help preserve and promote this wonderful competition and the committee look forward to embracing this in the coming Scór year. Tùs Maith leath na hOibre
HEALTH AND WELLBEING
Leaving Cert exam time is upon us with many young people and their families coming under pressure to ensure everyone stays calm in the run up to the exam.
Jigsaw the organization devoted to helping young people with all aspects of mental health wellbeing see a 35% increase in the number of young people engaging with its services in the run up to summer exams. Nowadays nearly half of young people use the internet to obtain information and support on their mental health and wellbeing. Jigsaw has launched a new website which provides free information on all aspects of youth mental health. The website is aimed at young people, teachers and parents and it offers resources, case studies and advice on a range of issues affecting young people’s mental health. TIPPERARY GAA CLUB DRAW
The new Tipperary GAA Clubs Draw committee would like to remind clubs that there are still 10 months remaining at €10 per month so clubs can still earn the same commission of €50 for every €100 collected or more if the 60% or 70% Bonus Commission applies.
The members who participated in the first draw held recently have the benefit of a free month in March 2020. New members who join now can still pay €100 to be included in that last draw in March 2020. So, clubs can regard these few weeks as an additional opportunity to increase their membership which time constraints perhaps did not allow you do ahead the first draw.
As an encouragement for clubs to increase their membership this month the draw committee are extending the 20/20 OFFER of 20 FREE Munster Championship tickets for any club that still increases its membership by 20 members on your March 2019 returns. The 20 tickets will apply for Tipperary's Munster Championship Round 5 game against Limerick in Semple Stadium on Sunday June 16th.
Three clubs achieved the 20-member increase for the first draw, so it's not too late for your club to join them and get the 20 free tickets. Best of luck in your efforts.

Tipperary GAA partner with Tipp Classical Festival for a unique Fundraising Initiative.
GAA clubs the length and breadth of the country know only too well that fundraising is crucial in keeping clubs going. Whatever size club, the GAA is the lifeblood of many local communities and funds are an essential part. Whether your club needs to purchase new jerseys, or your changing rooms could do with a fresh coat of paint, or better still, a brand-new clubhouse! Tipperary GAA and Tipp Classical are delighted to have partnered for this unique fundraising initiative where clubs have the opportunity to raise valuable funds and potentially a windfall of up to €250,000. For every Tipp Classical Festival Ticket, you sell to your loyal club supporters 100% of that discount value goes back to your GAA club.
Last year’s festival brought an estimated €12 million boost to the local economy. With an expanded 2-day festival this year it will be an even bigger offering as it will cater up to 30,000 fans in Semple Stadium. Beyond the stadium, the fantastic FMC Music Trail of Liberty Square expands to include more venues throughout the town. Thurles will play host to some iconic and legendary performers as they descend onto the grounds of Semple.

TIPPERARY SUPPORTERS CLUB GOLF CLASSIC
The Tipperary Supporters Club Annual Golf Classic was another resounding success and thanks to all who supported the event again this year. In 1st place was Liam O'Shea's Team on 95pts represented by Thomas Cleary, Ray Mcloughney, Conor Cleary and Kieran Cahill.
Nearest The Pin was Derry Coughlan on Seamus Grogan's Team at 8' 7" while the longest drive went to Domhnall O’Mahoney on the Dundrum Maps team. Congratulations to all the winners and thanks to Nenagh Golf Club for hosting the event.
SYMPATHY
We express sympathy to the family of the late Jimmy Cunningham from Inane Rovers and Roscrea who died recently. Jimmy was a masseur who worked with many clubs and Tipperary football teams. He was with the backroom staff in 2011 when the Tipp minor footballers won the All Ireland and also gave great service to numerous Tipperary senior football teams.
A benefit night for Jimmy which was planned before his untimely death is being held this Saturday night, 25th May with an exhibition match in St. Cronan’s field in Roscrea and all are welcome.
We offer our sympathies to the family and colleagues in the Nenagh Eire Óg GAA Club of Jerry Quinlan who died this week. Jerry won a Munster minor medal with Tipperary in 1962 and was midfield on the Tipperary U21 hurling team that won the Munster Final in 1965. He won a North Tipperary senior hurling title with Nenagh Éire Óg in 1964 and later went on to serve terms as team manager and club chairman.
