Cork maintained their inter-county dominance over Tipperary last Saturday evening, weathering a second-half storm to retain the Munster Intermediate Camogie Championship title.

Hoping to harness the momentum of their National League Division 2 success, the prospect of landing provincial honours was well within reach for Bill Mullaney’s side entering this game.

Approaching Cork with a defensive game-plan might have seemed like a wise strategy prior to throw-in, but by the tenth minute, that theory had been disproved.

Tipp’s decision to adopt the sweeper system and congest the opposition scoring zone paid very little dividends in those opening minutes. In fact, it played right into Cork’s hands, enabling them to make use of a slick and skilful forward-line which seemed to thrive in tight spaces.
