Frustration that Tipp didn't take chances
By Rose Mannion
Tipperary manager Bill Mullaney lamented his sides failure to build-up a half time lead with the elements at their back in their Munster senior final defeat on Saturday.
The sides were level at the break and despite Tipperary scoring an early second-half goal, it wasn't enough to hold off a powerful Cork surge in the second half.
“We dominated the first half and had a lot of the play, we just didn’t put them away or get far enough in front with the breeze,” admitted Mullaney.
“In the second half they kicked on a gear and we couldn’t match it. They (Cork) were just better than us again today”.
For a game that was well contested for so long, the final margin may have appeared harsh on Tipperary.
“The scoreline flattered them a little and maybe insulted us a small bit, most of the scores in the gap was scored in the last five minutes” added Mullaney.
“They had wind assist in the second half and they used the space better than us and they opened us up a little and they got a couple of handy scores that put the gap between us, but we battled for long stages and I don’t think there was much between us for long stages on the field.
“I mean we have to learn from it, we have to improve more, we have to come on from it and we have to drive on again,” he said.
