The West’s awake for Clonmel Produce showdown
The 2019 season has been as exciting as any in a rich racing history on the local greyhound scene with the emergence of talented pups from a host of kennels and having tasted classic glory through Skywalker Logan, the wonderful career starts of Michael Hogan’s Grangeview West and Grangeview Ten had already seen them prominent throughout the Con & Annie Kirby festival at Limerick.
Following those Limerick exploits, Lorrha’s Michael Hogan made what surely must have been a difficult decision to relinquish the training duties of his star youngsters but when deciding to trust the guidance of Pat Guilfoyle for the remainder of their racing careers, he could be certain that the prolific Moneygall kennel would extract the very maximum from their extensive talents.
Targeted at the 2019 Larry O’Rourke National Produce Stakes at Clonmel, Grangeview Ten (Zero Ten/Portumna West) now enters the final this Sunday having produced the bravest of semi-final victories and stands on the cusp of delivering instant reward for the new marriage of owner and trainer.
Third in his opening round heat before a career best time when second to Riverside Leo in the Round Two, the Hogan charge has gone from strength to strength at Clonmel when winning both of his latest heats.
