Sheedy relishing moving from the comfort zone as stakes get higher

Tipperary manager Liam Sheedy admitted there was a hollow feeling to Sunday's win over Limerick following the injuries sustained to Cathal Barrett and Patrick Maher.

The duo were forced off within three minutes of eachother at the end of the first half with Patrick Maher's injury the most concerning with the Lorrha man feared to have sustained a serious knee injury.

“It was a tough pill to swallow,” he admitted to the double blow.

“Cathal and Bonner are two really serious warriors for us and it’s really unfortunate to lose both of them in the first half.

“I thought the reaction of the lads in the group; our guys went in and stepped up and thankfully we managed to move on.”

From last year where Tipperary failed to win a match, now they have become the first team in Munster to complete a clean sweep in the round-robin phase, progressing to a first provincial final since 2016 which is their immediate target.

“Overall we are very happy,” Sheedy added.

“Obviously to come out with a victory is very pleasing and it means we have concluded the league stage of this championship and we find ourselves in a Munster final. We aimed to get into the top three and to find ourselves in the top two. It moves now from the comfort of having the league gone and into the real business end of this championship.”
