Borroway go top after toppling champions

Borroway Rovers moved top of the NT&DL Premier Division with a stunning 4-1 win over Killavilla United on Sunday.

Callum O’Connor scored to add to his already impressive haul for the season while goals from Shane Dunne, Tommy McGuire and Keith Moore rounded off a hugely impressive result for Paul Gould’s side. Ruarí Murphy scored the consolation for reigning champions 'Villa, who now drop to second in the table and will be looking to bounce back away to Portumna this weekend.

Moneygall produced an excellent performance to secure a 3-0 win at home to Portumna Town on Sunday.

Jack O’Brien found the net midway through the first half to give Gerry Larkin’s side a 1-0 half-time lead. Derek McLoughlin doubled the lead on the hour mark before a Paul Costello strike, twenty minutes from time, put the result beyond doubt.

A disappointing result for Portumna, who have started the season extremely well, but a huge win for Moneygall as they look to establish themselves in the top tier.

Elsewhere, Nenagh Celtic missed a chance to close the gap to the top as they were held to a 0-0 draw at home to Thurles Town. Celtic entertain league leaders Borroways Rovers this Sunday and will need to win to keep their title hopes on track.
