Celtic back in contention after toppling league leaders

North Tipperary & District League Review

Nenagh Celtic put themselves back in contention at the top of the table with an impressive 4-2 win over league leaders Borroway Rovers at the VEC grounds on Saturday evening.

Jimmy Hynes gave Celtic a first half lead which was extended with goals from Mikey Hynes and Jamie Kelly, before Jimmy Hynes scored his second to put the result beyond doubt.

Rovers did pull two goals back through Anthony Walker and Keith Moore but it was too little too late for Paul Gould’s side. They will look to get back to winning ways when they welcome Portumna Town to Loughtagalla Park this weekend.

Celtic on the other hand, have put together a string of impressive performances under their new manager Henry Newman, having endured a difficult start to the campaign. Newman will be hoping to continue this rich vein of form and avenge a defeat from earlier this season, when they travel to face Moneygall this coming Sunday.
