Celtic sound warning in going top

North Tipperary & District League Review

By Padraig Ryan

Nenagh Celtic have installed themselves as North Tipperary & District League Premier Division title favourites with a comprehensive 4-1 away win over reigning champions Killavilla United.

Szymon Popiela was the hero for Celtic, netting all four of their goals in a stunning individual performance. Popiela was one of the silver linings for Celtic in what was a difficult campaign last time out and manager Henry Newman will delighted to see him bring this brilliant form into this season.

Celtic are now the in-form side in the top division with the win here over Villa and a recent defeat of Borroway Rovers but there is a long way to go this season and both of those sides retain well founded title ambitions.

Borroway did slip up at the weekend though, as they were held to a 2-2 draw at home to Moneygall.

Jamie Fercombe and Gary Dunne netted for Rovers while young striker Riann McLoughlin grabbed a brace for Gerry Larkin’s Moneygall side.
