Ryan feels underdogs tag fits Tipp

Former Tipperary All Ireland winning manager Michael Ryan says the Premier County are rightly classed as underdogs heading into Sunday's All-Ireland Senior Hurling semi-final against Wexford in Croke Park.

The now Na Piarsaigh boss feels that Liam Sheedy's call to place Tipperary as underdogs for the game in the wake of their win over Laois last time out is warranted.

Ryan feels that although Tipperary were strong in the round robin section of the Munster Championship, given the current Championship format, Wexford are very much the form team at the moment, and justify their favourites tag.

"For me I don't think we can look at a season in totality now, because there are so many different phases and stages to it," he told the Nenagh Guardian.

"I agree with Liam. I think we are underdogs and as far as I am concerned you have to base that kind of opinion of where we sit on current form."
