Captain Quirke is aiming high
Tipperary captain Clodagh Quirke is sick of moral victories and is hoping a win over Limerick in Saturday's All Ireland Senior Camogie quarter final can be a springboard back to the glory days for the Premier County.
Speaking at last weeks successful supporters open evening at the Ragg, the Clonoulty/Rossmore player, who is one of the longest serving members of the panel, is focused on finally achieving some success and feels Tipperary are well on the way to doing so.
“When I look around at the girls on the panel, we have had a lot of underage success,” she said of the All Ireland minor successes in 2011 and 2016.
“I have been on the panel for the last eight years and we have no silverware and we have got to the stage now where we are sick of moral victories. We have bridged the gap a bit between us and the top teams so hopefully this year we will push on.”
Cork, Kilkenny and Galway have dominated camogie in recent years and Tipperary have been trying to close the gap to the big three and reaching the knockout stages over the last two seasons has been a start, getting to a semi-final last year against Cork.
