By Padraig Ryan
Nenagh Celtic continued their unbeaten run in the Premier Division with a 6-1 rout of Portumna Town to stay top of the NT&DL Premier Division.
Celtic took a 3-0 lead into the break after a dominant first half which saw goals from Szymon Popiela, Mikey Hynes and Brian Mitchell.
The second half continued in a similar vein with Jimmy Hyens extending the lead before Portumna pulled one back through Ciaran Haugh. Celtic scored twice more to make sure of the win with Mark Walsh and Jamie Kelly finding the net for Henry Newman’s side who remain joint top of the division.
Borroway Rovers continue to share top spot with Celtic following their 3-1 derby victory over Thurles Town on Sunday.
Tommy McGuire and Tom Rykala netted either side of an own goal to give Paul Gould’s side a valuable away win. Thurles town scored a consolation through Pa Lawlor and will be disappointed with this derby defeat.
Elsewhere, Killavilla United stay in touch at the top, with a strike from winger Craig Phelan securing a narrow 1-0 home win over Moneygall.
