Artist Kate Hennessy comes to Nenagh Library

Nenagh Library is delighted to welcome Kate Hennessy, who will be exhibiting with us for the month of September, showing a collection of paintings that is striking in its use of bold colours and imagery.

With references to eastern European and eastern religion and culture, the iconography captured by the artist is brightly coloured in some instances and full of subdued shadow in others, but never less than thought provoking. Her work is inspired by the countries that she has visited, her sketchbooks, camera and watercolours a constant companion in recording these colourful sights.

Born in Limerick, Kate studied art and taught it in Limerick, Dublin and Kilkenny while painting all the while. She has held over 30 solo shows, showing at both the Belltable and the Hunt Museum in Limerick; Davis Gallery, Dublin, the Source, Thurles and the Lavitt Gallery, Cork as well as the Air Gallery, London.

Aside from solo exhibitions Kate has also taken part in numerous group shows, exhibiting at the RHA, Sligo Small Works, the Oireachtas and Limerick City Gallery, and her paintings are included in several public and private collections in the city of Limerick including the University of Limerick, Limerick City Gallery, Mary Immaculate College and Ulster Bank.
