A fantastic display of free taking by man of the match Darragh Carey and a brilliant display Adrian Ryan played a huge part in helping an under strength Templederry side over the line with the Kenyons finishing the stronger to defeat Lorrha in this North Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship quarter final on Sunday.

With very little separating the teams all through the hour the sides were level for the fourth and final time when Carey levelled to make it 1-16 to 0-19. Carey with 0-13 (0-12f) continued his great work and with wind advantage, added two quick points with sub Padraig O’Leary scoring a point while Adrian Ryan added two more as the better manpower on the bench which saw Thomas Stapleton and Eanna Murray entering the fray allowed the Green and Whites over the line to a place in the North semi-final for the third time in five years.

The second part of a two game sequel which saw Templederry claim victory in the Seamus O’Riain encounter over Lorrha two weeks ago. There would be no seven goals this time as both defences had their tasks well thought out. Templederry’s defensive duties demanded more attention as they lined out without full back Thomas Stapleton and his brother Brian due to injury but Christy Coughlan returned and manned the centre back position with calm and skill.
