Local Link have announced improvements to their Tipp services.

New daily services from Local Link

Local Link Tipperary are delighted to announce a new daily bus service Route 391 connecting Thurles with Limerick via Newport and the University of Limerick and an enhanced timetable for Route 854 Roscrea to Nenagh.

Both routes will begin service on Monday, September 23rd, and will bring a permanent enhancement to bus services in their respective areas. Anthony Moroney, Local Link Tipperary Manager, said: “We are delighted to introduce these permanent and revamped timetables. In conjunction with the National Transport Authority we’re hopeful that the long-term transport solutions announced today will meet the needs of commuters in these areas."

Route 391 includes stops in Ballycahill, Upperchurch, Rearcross, Newport and UL. Following extensive research, Local Link Tipperary will implement a service effective from Monday, September 23rd, with the first service departing from Thurles at 7am and the last service departing at 4pm. The first bus service departing from Limerick is at 8.50am, and the last service departing at 5.50pm. All services will be in operation seven days a week including Bank Holiday Mondays.

The updated Route 854 timetable, which now includes the villages of Cloughjordan and Shinrone, will address gaps in service arising from the decision earlier this year by Kenneally’s Bus Service Ltd, T/A JJ Kavanagh & Sons to withdraw service from a number of intermediate locations along its 735 bus route. In the wake of that announcement, the National Transport Authority (NTA) carried out an examination of the affected locations and determined that there was in fact a requirement to continue to provide services to meet the social need in the area.

Based on this examination, Local Link Tipperary will implement an updated timetable effective Monday, September 23rd, replacing the existing temporary timetable, with the first service departing from Roscrea at 7.15am and the last service departing at 3.15pm. The first bus service will depart from Nenagh at 8.45am, and the last service departs at 4.45pm. All services are in operation seven days a week including Bank Holiday Mondays. Free Travel Pass holders and children under five years travel free, and all buses are wheelchair accessible.

“We hope the enhanced Local Link services that are being rolled out will see a greater range of public transport options provided to local residents and will bring greater connectivity to towns and villages in Tipperary, Limerick and Offaly,” added Local Link Tipperary Manager Anthony Moroney.
