CLUB FIXTURES
The FBD Insurance County Tipperary senior and intermediate football championships quarter-finals take centre stage at county level this weekend in tandem with the first of the FBD Insurance Seamus Ó Riain Cup quarter-finals.
In the FBD Insurance County Tipperary senior football championship, the following are the quarter-final pairings down for decision. On Saturday next, September 28th, its Loughmore-Castleiney v Arravale Rovers in Cashel at 3:30pm. Then on Sunday September 29th at 2pm in the first of a double header in Ardfinnan, Clonmel Commercials and Ballyporeen meet, while Moyle Rovers and Cahir line out against each other at 4:30pm. On Wednesday October 2nd, at 7:30pm, JK Brackens and Upperchurch-Drombane meet in Templetuohy.
In the FBD Insurance Tom Cusack football quarter-finals, on Saturday next September 28th, first up at 2pm Moyne-Templetuohy meet Killenaule in Cashel. Two matches throw in at 3:30pm when Ardfinnan and Kilsheelan-Kilcash meet in Clonmel and Aherlow Gaels and Galtee Rovers meet in Sean Treacy Park. The remaining fixture is on Wednesday October 2nd, in Borrisoleigh, when Eire Óg Annacarty-Donohill and Kiladangan meet at 7:30pm.
In the FBD Insurance County Tipperary intermediate football championship the quarter final parings are as follows. Again, on Saturday next September 28th, there is a double header in Cahir where Clonmel Commercials and Moyle Rovers meet at 2pm, followed by the game between Rockwell Rovers and Moycarkey-Borris at 3:30pm. Elsewhere, on Saturday, Golden-Kilfeacle and Clonoulty-Rossmore meet at 2pm in Dundrum. Then on Wednesday, October 2nd, Drom & Inch meet Clonmel Óg in Clonoulty at 7:30pm.
In the first of the quarter finals in the FBD Insurance Seamus Ó Riain Cup, Mullinahone and Silvermines meet on Sunday next, September 29th, in Holycross at 2pm.
The FBD Insurance County minor hurling championships have also reached the penultimate stage with semi-finals in both A and B grades going ahead this weekend.
On Saturday next in the FBD Insurance County Minor (A) Hurling Championship there is a double header in Clonoulty starting at 2pm where Kiladangan and Mullinahone line out, followed at 3:30pm when Drom-Inch will play the West winners.
Meanwhile, also on Saturday, in the FBD Insurance County Minor (B) Hurling Championship, first up in Templetuohy at 12-noon Borris-Ileigh meet Killenaule, while in Holycross at 1:15pm Gortnahoe-Glengoole will play the West winners.
Last Saturday, in the FBD Insurance County Junior (A) Football Championship Group 5 Playoff - Rd 1, Ballingarry defeated Clerihan 2-17 to 1-10. Ballingarry will now play Boherlahan-Dualla in the playoff final this Wednesday, September 25th in New Inn at 7:30pm. Continuing this weekend in a preliminary quarter-final Cahir and Solohead meet in Bansha on Sunday next with a 12-noon throw-in time, while Moyle Rovers await the winners of the play-off final also on Sunday in the second preliminary quarter-final in Cloneen at 12-noon.
The draws were made for the FBD Insurance County Tipperary intermediate hurling preliminary quarter finals and the senior hurling relegation and are as follows:
The FBD Insurance County Tipperary Senior hurling relegation both games will go ahead on Sunday October 6th, Killenaule v Moycarkey-Borris in Templetuohy at 2pm and Portroe v Burgess in Dolla at 3:30pm.
FBD Insurance County Tipperary Intermediate Hurling preliminary quarter finals
Kilsheelan-Kilcash v Ballybacon-Grange on Saturday, October 5th at 4pm in Monroe.
Sean Treacys v Moyne-Templetuohy on Saturday, October 5th at 4pm in Borrisoleigh.
Moneygall v Golden-Kilfeacle on Saturday, October 5th at 4pm in Drombane.
Shannon Rovers v Borrisokane on Sunday October 6th at 2pm in Dolla.
All knockout games have extra time. If the games are all square after extra time, a replay will take place the following Tuesday/Wednesday night.
At divisional level, there was stalemate in Tipperary Co-Op West Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship Final as Clonoulty-Rossmore and Éire Óg Annacarty-Donohill couldn't be separated as they finished 1-27 apiece after extra time. They go again next Sunday, September 29th in the replay in Golden where throw-in is at 3pm.
In the Centenary Agri Mid Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship both semi-finals went ahead in Holycross. Upperchurch-Drombane fought back to take the honours over Moycarkey-Borris by 2-24 to 3-16. In the second match Drom & Inch held off the JK Brackens challenge, 0-20 to 1-15. The final between Upperchurch-Drombane and Drom & Inch goes ahead on Sunday next in Littleton at 3pm.
Meanwhile, in the Hibernian Inn North Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship semi-finals there was plenty of drama too in MacDonagh Park, Nenagh. Kiladangan and Templederry Kenyons locked horns in the first match of the double bill with Kiladanagn eventually getting to the final on a 1-28 to 2-22 score-line. The second game was a marathon contest which required two periods of extra time to find a winner, with Borris-Ileigh just about making it, 1-32 to 2-24, following a supreme Burgess effort. The final is set again for Sunday next at 2pm in MacDonagh Park, Nenagh.

BORD GÁIS ENERGY PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Congratulations to Jerome Cahill (Kilruane MacDonaghs) who was named the 2019 Bord Gáis Energy Under-20 Hurler of the Year last week. The award caps off a remarkable year for Jerome, coming on the back of winning U20 and senior All-Ireland hurling titles in the space of six days last month. His win makes it two in a row for Tipp as Ger Browne (Knockavilla-Donaskeigh Kickhams) collected the award in 2018.

Tipperary Hurler of the Year – Voting Now Open
What a summer it has been for Tipperary hurling. The Premier County's 28th All-Ireland Senior Hurling title was achieved following a deserved win over Kilkenny in Croke Park, while six days later in the LIT Gaelic Grounds, our U20's defeated Cork to win the inaugural U20 All-Ireland Hurling title, great days indeed to be a Tipperary hurling supporter.
As the intercounty season has ended, the time has come to select the Tipperary Senior Hurler of the Year. Who will succeed Jason Forde to win the 2019 award? Voting is now open and is exclusive to 2019 members of the Tipperary Supporters Club.
Members of the Tipperary Supporters Club can vote by emailing info@tippsupportersclub.com and simply providing the name of your selection for Tipperary Hurler of the Year.
Voting will remain open until the end of September. The winner will be announced in October.

HEALTH AND WELLBEING
The GAA and Samaritans Ireland partnership have launched “The Huddle” which is approximately a 10 minute pre- or post- training team talk about mental health which is available to all clubs through their local Samaritans liaison officer #gaahealth #talktous The idea is to normalise talk about mental health, nobody should suffer alone, players need to look after both their physical and mental health in order to perform on the field of play and to have the coping skills when lives can be difficult.

HEALTHY CLUB CONFERENCE
The role played by GAA clubs in supporting the health and wellbeing of communities across Ireland will be explored at the 2019 Healthy Club Conference in Croke Park on Saturday week, October 5th.
Delegates will participate in workshops covering mental health in sport, diversity and inclusion, positive aging, and the importance of physical activity. The themes will be brought to life through practical case studies revealing initiatives rolled out by Healthy Clubs covering these themes.
The event, proudly delivered in partnership with Healthy Ireland and Irish Life, will see a further 84 GAA clubs across the 32 counties receive official recognition as ‘Healthy Clubs’, having completed Phase 3 of the project. Congratulations to two Tipperary clubs, Lorrha-Dorrha and Newport, which completed Phase 3 of the Healthy Club Project and will receive official recognition at the conference.
The conference will also see the launch of Phase 4 of the award-winning Healthy Club Project, as the GAA seek to recruit another 150 clubs to participate come January 2020.
Renowned GAA coaching tutor, Paudie Butler, will discuss in his keynote address how the development of the child – including their wellbeing – lies at the heart of all good coaching and is fundamental to the principles of the Healthy Club Project.
You will also hear from GAA ambassadors Noel McGrath and Nicole Owens. Workshops will cover: Mental Fitness, Physical Activity, Positive Ageing, and Diversity and Inclusion #gaahealth
Noel is the players’ representative on the GAA’s National Health and Wellbeing Committee and will participate in a panel discussion. (Additional player ambassadors will be announced in the coming weeks.)

STARS IN THEIR EYES
The Tipperary GAA Supporters Club is hosting a fundraiser for the Tipperary Senior Hurling All Ireland Champions 2019 and Camogie Team by staging “Stars in Their Eyes” at The Dome, Semple Stadium, Thurles on Saturday, November 9th.
The evening will be compered by the very high-profile sports presenter Marty Morrissey and celebrity judges will include sports pundit and ex Tipperary goalkeeper Brendan Cummins, TV, Radio and entertainment personality Mairead Ronan and Tipperary country singer Louise Morrissey.
