Nenagh solar farm plan appealed

An Bord Pleánala is to rule on a plan to develop a solar farm outside Nenagh.

Tipperary Co Council recently granted conditional planning permission to John Fogarty for a solar PV (photovoltaic) panel array consisting of up to 22,500 square metres of solar panels on ground-mounted steel frames at Lisbrien. Two electricity control cabins, four inverter units, underground cable ducts, hard-standing area, boundary security fence, site entrance, access track, landscaping, CCTV and associated site works are included in the plan. It is proposed that the development would generate up to 4.96MW of renewable electricity to be exported to the national grid.

A third party appeal against the council's decision has since been made in the name of Kieran Timmons. An Bord Pleanála is to rule on the case by January 22nd next.
