CLUB FIXTURES

The main results from last weekend at county level centred on the FBD Insurance County Tipperary senior and intermediate football championships quarter-finals and the one fixture in the FBD Insurance Seamus Ó Riain Cup quarter-final.

In the FBD Insurance County Tipperary senior football championship, the following are the quarter-final results; Loughmore-Castleiney 5-11 Arravale Rovers 2-8, Clonmel Commercials 4-13 Ballyporeen 0-7 and Moyle Rovers 1-13 Cahir 3-4. This Wednesday October 2nd, at 8pm, JK Brackens and Upperchurch-Drombane meet in Littleton in the remaining quarter-final.

In the FBD Insurance Tom Cusack football quarter-finals, three results of games played are as follows; Killenaule 0-11 Moyne-Templetuohy 0-4, Kilsheelan-Kilcash 3-12 Ardfinnan 0-13 and Aherlow Gaels 1-11 Galtee Rovers 1-6. The remaining fixture is on Wednesday October 2nd, in Borrisoleigh, when Eire Óg Annacarty-Donohill and Kiladangan meet at 7:30pm.

In the FBD Insurance County Tipperary intermediate football championship the quarter-final results are also as follows; Clonmel Commercials 0-17 Moyle Rovers 3-6, Moycarkey-Borris 2-11 Rockwell Rovers 1-13 and Golden-Kilfeacle 1-13 Clonoulty-Rossmore 0-5. This Wednesday, October 2nd, Drom & Inch meet Clonmel Óg in Clonoulty at 7:30pm.

In the first of the quarter finals in the FBD Insurance Seamus Ó Riain Cup the result read, Mullinahone 1-23 Silvermines 2-19.

The FBD Insurance County minor hurling championships finals go ahead this weekend with the semi-final results as follows; FBD Insurance County Minor (A) Hurling Championship, Kiladangan 1-20 Mullinahone 1-12 and Drom-Inch 5-11 Knockavilla-Donaskeigh Kickhams 1-16.

And in the FBD Insurance County Minor (B) Hurling Championship, the results were, Borris-Ileigh 2-18 Killenaule 1-17 and Arravale Rovers 3-19 Gortnahoe-Glengoole 1-18.

In the FBD Insurance County Junior (A) Football Championship Group 5 playoff final, Ballingarry defeated play Boherlahan-Dualla 0-11 to 1-7. In the preliminary quarter-finals the results read, Solohead 6-9 Cahir 2-10 and Moyle Rovers 1-8 Ballingarry 1-7.

At divisional level, in Tipperary Co-Op West Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship Final Replay Clonoulty-Rossmore came from behind to earn a preliminary county senior hurling quarter-final spot following their 3-13 to 1-15 win over Éire Óg Annacarty-Donohill.

The Centenary Agri Mid Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship Final was held in the recently developed Moycarkey-Borris club grounds in Littleton, for the first time in 33 years. Here, Drom & Inch also come from behind late on to take the lead before Upperchurch-Drombane drew level to send the game to extra time, with Drom and Inch just about edging it 2-19 to 1-21 AET.

Meanwhile, in the Hibernian Inn North Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship final, Kiladangan collected their 4th North title of the decade in MacDonagh Park, Nenagh following their defeat of Borris-Ileigh. The full-time result read Kiladangan 2-13 Borris-Ileigh 1-8.

The FBD Insurance County Senior Hurling Preliminary quarter finals and relegation fixtures as well as the FBD Insurance County Minor A and B hurling finals are the main focus of attention this weekend.

PWC GAA/GPA HURLING ALL-STARS

Congratulations to the eleven Tipperary senior hurlers that made the shortlist of nominations for this year’s PwC All-Stars team. Those eleven are, Brian Hogan (Lorrha-Dorrha), Pádraic Maher (Thurles Sarsfields), Ronan Maher (Thurles Sarsfields), Cathal Barrett (Holycross-Ballycahill), Brendan Maher (Borris-Ileigh), Barry Heffernan (Nenagh Éire Óg), Noel McGrath (Loughmore-Castleiney), John O’Dwyer (Killenaule), Jason Forde (Silvermines), Séamus Callanan (Drom-Inch) and John McGrath (Loughmore-Castleiney).

In the race for PwC GAA/GPA Hurler of the Year, congratulations to Séamus Callanan who has once again been nominated following his performances this year. He will face opposition from Pat Horgan (Cork) and TJ Reid (Kilkenny). The awards ceremony will take place on Friday, November 1st.

HALL OF FAME

Congratulations to Nicky English (Lattin-Cullen) who was recently inducted into the GAA Museum Hall of Fame 2019. A two-time All-Ireland medal winner as a player in 1989 and 1991, and won five Munster senior hurling titles, he was Hurler of the Year in 1989 and won six All-Star awards. Nicky also managed Tipperary to an All-Ireland senior title in 2001 and is a worthy recipient of the award.

CAMOGIE ALL-STARS

Congratulations to Sabrina Larkin (Tipperary) who made the Intermediate Player of the Year Shortlist for the Camogie Association/WGPA Players’ Player of the Year Awards, sponsored by Liberty Insurance.

Tipperary received nine nominations for the Camogie All-Stars Awards 2019 shortlist. The final team will be announced at the 16th annual Camogie All-Stars Awards banquet, sponsored by Liberty Insurance. Congratulations to the following players on their nominations; Caoimhe Bourke, Julianne Bourke, Karen Kennedy, Eimear Loughman, Clodagh Quirke, Mary Ryan, Cáit Devane, Ereena Fryday and Eibhlís McDonald.

LADIES GAELIC FOOTBALL ALL-STARS

Congratulations to Aishling McCarthy and Aishling Moloney who received nominations for the TG4 All-Star Awards for Ladies Gaelic Football. The awards ceremony will take place on November 16th.

TIPPERARY U20 HURLING MANAGEMENT

Following the news last week of Liam Cahill’s decision to step away from Tipperary U20 hurling management the task of finding his replacement will begin. Once again, we thank Liam and his management team for a 100% All-Ireland U20/21 title record in their two years at the helm at the grade, delivering an U21 crown in 2018, the last at the grade, and a first U20 crown this year. These successes are in conjunction with an All-Ireland minor title in 2016.

Best wishes to Liam and his management team in their careers ahead.

Tipperary Hurler of the Year – Voting Now Open

What a summer it has been for Tipperary hurling. The Premier County's 28th All-Ireland Senior Hurling title was achieved following a deserved win over Kilkenny in Croke Park, while six days later in the LIT Gaelic Grounds, our U20's defeated Cork to win the inaugural U20 All-Ireland Hurling title, great days indeed to be a Tipperary hurling supporter.

As the intercounty season has ended, the time has come to select the Tipperary Senior Hurler of the Year. Who will succeed Jason Forde to win the 2019 award? Voting is now open and is exclusive to 2019 members of the Tipperary Supporters Club.

Members of the Tipperary Supporters Club can vote by emailing info@tippsupportersclub.com and simply providing the name of your selection for Tipperary Hurler of the Year. Voting will remain open until the end of September. The winner will be announced in October.

INSURANCE SEMINAR

The County Development Committee has arranged a Seminar on Insurance, to be held in the Anner Hotel, Thurles on Thursday, 10th October, where presentations will be made by Croke Park personnel.

Clubs are invited to send 2 representatives, at least one of whom should be a Club Officer.
Registration and refreshments will be at 7.15pm and the seminar will start at 7.45pm (sharp) and conclude at 10pm.

#GAAYOUTH FORUM 2019

The #GAAyouth Forum 2019 will take place on Saturday 26th October 2019. The application process will be open from this Friday 4th October to Sunday 13th October at www.gaa.ie/gaayouth. The event is organised by the GAA Youth Reps for other young players. The Forum, run in partnership with Sky Sports, is free and will be fun and informative with a mix of interactive exhibitions, workshops, a youth congress, high profile speakers and a Q&A session.

With workshops designed for three specific age-grades (12 – 13; 14 – 15; 16 – 21 years), players will leave the Forum having learned invaluable tips and tools that will help them to develop as a player and as a person.

How to Apply: 500 delegate places are up for grabs for male and female players in three age groups: 12 –13; 14 – 15 and 16 - 21. The online application process will be LIVE from this Friday 4th October to Sunday 13th October at www.gaa.ie/gaayouth and there are two ways to apply:

Online Application by an Individual - A young player can complete an individual application form online and identify an adult in their Club who endorses their application.

Online Application by a Club - A Club can complete an application form to nominate a young player/s from the Club to attend the Forum (max. 4 players, ages 12 - 21).

The closing date for applications is Sunday 13th October and successful applicants will be informed by Friday 18th October.

STARS IN THEIR EYES

The Tipperary GAA Supporters Club is hosting a fundraiser for the Tipperary Senior Hurling All Ireland Champions 2019 and Camogie Team by staging “Stars In Their Eyes” at The Dome, Semple Stadium, Thurles on Saturday November 9th.

The show will include members of the present Tipperary Senior hurling and Senior Camogie team, former players, present management and County Board. The evening will be compered by the very high-profile sports presenter Marty Morrissey and celebrity judges will include sports pundit and former Tipperary goalkeeper Brendan Cummins, TV, radio and entertainment personality Mairead Ronan and Tipperary country singer Louise Morrissey.

A special guest performer will shortly be announced.
