Head Coach Muldoon glad to be back
By Enda Treacy
Much will be made of the new signings on the pitch for Nenagh Ormond this season, but the return of Ivan Muldoon as Head Coach is surely as important.
The Portumna man was head coach in 2016 and 2017 when Ormond reached the Division 2A playoff final but he stepped away last year which coincided with Nenagh sliding down the table and only secured their status in division in their second last game.
With the Galway man back in harness, he acknowledged that pre-season preparations for the new season have gone well so far.
“Overall all we’re happy with where the lads are at,” he said.
“The lads been working hard and we’re happy with preparations. We’ve another few sessions to do before the start of the season but we’re happy with where we are going into the game next Saturday.”
The absence of Muldoon last season undoubtedly was a big loss to the club, as they struggled in large spells to get to the pitch of previous two seasons under Muldoon’s tutelage, but he is happy to be back and is raring to go, as the club seems to have learned the lessons of last year and has worked tirelessly to recruit for the season ahead.
“For certain reasons I couldn’t commit to last season,” he revealed.
