Hogan completes great week with big Curragh success
CREPELLO
Having tasted success at Sligo on Wednesday and Gowran Park on Thursday, Denis Hogan completed a week to remember when he landed the five furlong Joe McGrath Premier Handicap which was worth almost €30,000 to the winner at the Curragh on Saturday with Make A Challenge.
A well supported favourite, the Invincible Spirit gelding was always up with the pace and when rider Joe Doyle gave him a squeeze at the two furlong marker, he careered away to win unchallenged by six lengths from Ardhoomey.
For a horse that only shed his maiden tag in May, the winners progress has been nothing if not spectacular as he was recording his fifth victory with winnings of close to €70,000. An inspired £6,500 at purchase the Doncaster November 2017 Sale, the winner once again highlighted the trainers ability to turn a cheap horse into a prolific winner.
In his post race debrief, Denis Hogan revealed that the next port of call could well be a £100,000 handicap at York, however, on the evidence supplier here he could well be a Stakes performer in waiting.
