Eventual winner Angela Mccann 460, followed by Sharon Cleere 87 2nd and Dymphna Ryan 725 3rd at the start of the Tipperary Mini Marathon

McCann takes the honours at the 10th Tipperary Women’s Mini Marathon

The weather held for the 10th Anniversary of the Tipperary Women’s marathon which took place on Sunday.

Over 800 participants took to the roads of Clonmel to complete the 10km event. The first lady home was local Clonmel AC athlete Angela McCann in a time of 37.44, only four seconds ahead of Thurles' Sharon Cleere.

I’m delighted to win this event for the first time, it was one event that escaped me over the years it was lovely to come back and win it in Clonmel, I would like to thank all the organisers and well done to all the participants,” McCann said.

Third place went to Dymphna Ryan from Dundrum AC who was followed in by club mate Linda Grogan. In fifth place was Glanmire' Orla Byrne with Kealey Tideswell (Clonmel AC) coming home in sixth place. Rosaleen O’Leary took the honours in the wheelchair category.

Special Olympic athlete Kellie O’Donnell who completed her first 10k, in just over the hour mark. It was also fantastic to see Tipperary Ladies Football Captain Samantha Lambert fresh from her All Ireland win come home in ninth place.
