Nenagh rout Clonmel in Celtic battle

North Tipperary & District League Review

By Padraig Ryan

Nenagh Celtic carried their impressive local form into the FAI Junior Cup at the weekend with a resounding 6-0 win over TSDL side Clonmel Celtic.

Clonmel have had a difficult start to their season and it didn't improve here with the Nenagh side running out comfortable winners in a one-sided affair.

Chris Ryan scored two goals, both from the penalty spot while Paul Ryan also grabbed a brace. Jimmy Hynes and Mark Walsh were also on the scoresheet for Henry Newman's side who will prove difficult opposition for any side in the next round.

Cloughjordan recorded the upset of the round with a 2-1 win over reigning Premier Division champions Killavilla United. The division one league leaders are having a hugely impressive season so far but this statement win will certainly be the highlight. Joe Callaghan rounded off an excellent performance with a brace for Clough with Kenny Lee getting on the scoresheet for Villa.
