Race for Dan hotting up

One thing you can say about this years club hurling championships is that it has been brilliantly unpredictable.

Who would have said last April that Thurles Sarsfields wouldn't have reached the knockout stage? Upto last weekend, Loughmore/Castleiney would have been many peoples favourites but they are now gone before the quarter finals have been played. Now the holders Clonoulty/Rossmore provided a reminder that they won't be giving up their title without a fight after being put on life support in recent weeks.

Well, based on their performances against Eire Og Annacarty and in particular Loughmore/Castleiney last Sunday, they appear to be peaking at the right time heading into the business end of the championship with four mouth-watering quarter finals next weekend.

2008 with Toomevara was the last time the Dan Breen Cup spent the winter in the North division with the Mid club dominating things until last year when Clonoulty-Rossmore broke their stranglehold.

Well, the North provides five of the last eight clubs in the quarter final with two from the west with Drom & Inch the lone representative from Mid Tipperary with the South watching it from the outside once again.
