Borris-Ileigh retain the bragging rights over their near neighbours in Drom & Inch after just about surviving a late onslaught to progress to the County Senior Hurling Championship semi-finals for the second time in three seasons on Sunday.

It was in 2017 where Borris-Ileigh also defeated Drom & Inch in that semi-final and they deservedly did so again, recovering well from a slow start in which they allowed Drom into a five point lead before troubling the scoreboard themselves in the tenth minute.

However, from there to the 45th minute, they outscored their rivals 3-10 to 0-8 to taking a commanding seven point lead going into the closing stages.

They had the chances to put the game to bed late on with fourteen wides as well as three goal chances went a begging as they went for the kill instead of opting to take the easy point to make the recovery chase for Drom even more difficult.

Borris-Ileigh didn't score in the last nineteen minutes of match time but they held a fast finishing Drom to just five points and crucially didn't concede a goal to advance.
