There were disgraceful scenes in Ballinree on Saturday when the Munster Youth Cup 1st round game between Ballymackey and Fairview Rangers was abandoned.

The Limerick side were leading 1-0 with the game entering the final ten minutes when the the visitors side-line reportedly walked across the field with the ball still in play and a scuffle broke out with the home bench.

Referee Tony Canning had no option but to abandon proceedings with a report now being sent to the Munster FA to decide the next step.

Borroway Rovers produced an excellent performance in the Thurles derby on Sunday, securing a 6-3 win over local rivals Thurles Town in Loughtagalla Park to go joint top of the North Tipperary & District League premier division table.

Rovers roared into a 5-0 lead with a hat-trick from the division’s in-form striker Callum O’Connor along with a brace from Tommy McGuire. Paul Gould’s men took their foot off the gas a little bit after this and allowed their opposition to grab two goals to get themselves back in the game. Darren McGuire then scored for Borroway to make it 6-2 and they had a number of chances to extend the advantage before they had a man sent off 15 minutes from the end. Town pulled one more back from a cracking Eoin Dorney free but Borroway saw out the game comfortably.
