Brendan O'Donoghue will be one of the top players at the Nenagh Open this weekend

Top amateur Snooker players return for Nenagh Open

The Nenagh Snooker Open returns to the North Tipperary town this weekend, 2nd & 3rd November.

The now annual event, run by New Institute Snooker Club has gone from strength to strength in recent years, particularly with its base at the Clubs Rooms on Friar Street where entry is free for spectators all weekend in what will be a feast of snooker.

This year will boast an entry of over 40 top amateur players from all over Ireland. Michael Judge, conqueror of Jimmy White at last weekends UK Senior Championships will headline the bill along with world number one ranked amateur senior player Rodney Goggins.

Ex professional Davy Morris is returning as defending champion with Nenagh's own Brendan O'Donoghue, three time Irish amateur champion and current Irish number 1 hoping to get his hands on the title.

This event is one of the more favoured invitationals on the Irish snooker calender due to the fantastic Nenagh town hospitality and the excellent playing conditions created by the fundraising efforts of the Nenagh Snooker Club Committee and with the help of Tipperary County Council and the Great National Abbey Court Hotel.

Organisers are also taking the opportunity to celebrate this years All Ireland Senior Club Championship victory and Munster 'B' Club Championship victories by New Institute Snooker Club in Andy Flynn's on Saturday night. Michael Judge and Rodney Goggins will be in attendance along with all three three cups in what promises to be a great night of celebration for the players and the club.
