Nenagh Ormond aim to end two winless runs

RUGBY: Energia All Ireland League Division 2A Preview

CASHEL v NENAGH ORMOND

Spafield

Friday 29th November

Kick-off @ 8.00pm

Referee: Barrie O'Connell

Nenagh Ormond will have it all to do to arrest their four game losing run in Division 2A of the All Ireland League when they travel to Cashel for the Tipperary derby on Friday night.

Not only are they under pressure to win not to be left in a relegation battle coming towards the half way stage of the campaign, they also have to end a four game winless run against their West Tipperary rivals.

Nenagh Ormond haven't beaten Cashel since a last gasp 30-29 success in Lisatunny in their first meeting in the 2017/2018 season. Since then, Cashel have won on three occasions, most recently a pre-season Munster Senior Cup win in Nenagh. Ormond's only positive result in that time was a 10-10 draw last season which kick-started their survival campaign.

The Munster Senior Cup loss to Cashel in September is symptomatic of the issue that has bedevelled Nenagh Ormond so far, not being able to close out games. In that encounter, as well as the recent losses to Buccaneers, UL Bohemian and Dolphin, Nenagh have had winning positions going into the closing stages of all three games but came away with just losing bonus-points.

It suggests Nenagh aren't that far of and despite only winning one game from six so far, they are just six points behind Queens University who sit in the fourth and final playoff position so all is not lost as director of rugby John Long and head coach Ivan Muldoon hope the mini-break will have given them the chance to iron out the issues and get Nenagh back on track again and what a place it would be to do it in Cashel.
