Toomevara outlasted Kilruane MacDonaghs to progress to the North Tipperary Under 21 'A' Hurling final following a dour semi-final last Sunday.

While there is rightful frustration over playing such a popular championship so late in the year, sometimes they do provide games of great intensity but despite the closeness of the tie throughout, this was not one of them with over half the scores coming from placed balls, even though referee Alan Tierney let the game flow as much as possible.

It did have a dramatic ending though as Tipperary senior panellist Cian Darcy missed a scoreable free from 45 yards deep in injury time which would have sent the game to extra time. It summed up a frustrating day for the the Kilruane MacDonaghs attacker who despite finishing the games top scorer with nine points, he also hit five wides, including three from placed balls in the second half, which proved decisive in the end.

Kilruane would have probably deserved extra time but the hardy band of spectators were probably relieved there was a result with Toomevara's greater efficiency proving the difference in the end.
