Quirke aiming to build on 2019 progress

Shauna Quirke is looking forward to 2020 with positivity, after a mixed year ended on a disappointing note with both club and college, after helping to deliver Division 2 League success with Tipperary, and also Club Championship success in Tipperary with Toomevara.

Quirke was on the Waterford I.T. side which lost to U.L. in the Division 1 League decider last week, but with W.I.T. hosting the UPMC Ashbourne Cup in 2020, she's aiming to bounce back on the colleges front.

“There's a good buzz in the college around camogie in the college, and we are really driving on now to get there this year, and hopefully do the business,” she told the Guardian at the launch of UPMC's new partnership with the GAA-GPA as Official Healthcare Partner.
All round 2019 has been a hectic year, but one which Quirke has thoroughly enjoyed, with the Division 2 League win with Tipperary among the highlights.

“Winning the league with Tipperary was brilliant, it was a good highlight. We got to the Munster final as well, and were unlucky to lose out to Cork,” she said.

“Coming up then with my club from Junior to Intermediate and winning the Tipperary title and continuing to the Munster final was also very satisfying.

“We came up against a very strong Gaultier team, who had won the Senior title in Waterford, so it was always going to be tough coming up against them.

“It was busy year, but I love it.”
