MATCH DIGEST

Player of the Match: Laura Leenane (Shannon Rovers)

SCORERS - Shannon Rovers: Laura Linnane 3-9 (1-4 frees); Clodagh McIntyre 1-3; Aine Slattery 0-4 (3 frees).

Brian Borus: Aisling Ryan 2-2; Caoimhe Ryan 0-4 (1 free, 1 45); Lauren O’Brien 1-0; Ciara Morrissey 0-1.

3-9 from Laura Leenane inspired Shannon Rovers to come from behind not once but twice to secure their first County Minor 'B' Camogie title with a merited extra time victory over Brian Borus on Saturday.

Trailing by ten points just after half time they fought back to draw level 1-9 to 2-6 and force extra time. Facing the breeze in the opening period of extra time Rovers found themselves five in arrears before the Rovers hit 3-4 without reply to see off the south side by eight points.

This was an incredible performance by the North girls. A very young side the team had only two of the team overage for next year and six of the starting fifteen were aged sixteen including Laura Linnane who scored a fantastic 3-9, including 2-5 from play. Clodagh McIntyre is one of the players overage for next year and she scored 1-3 in a great performance while goalkeeper Aine Slattery came to the rescue once more with a four point (three frees) with her second point –a long distance free – sending the game to extra time.
