Trumps Ace finally comes good for Doyle at Clonmel
CREPELLO
Trumps Ace ended a thirteen race losing run to finally break her duck for Moyne trainer Tim Doyle when she captured the two mile and two 81-107 handicap chase at Clonmel on Thursday.
Having posted a couple of decent efforts over hurdles as a five-year-old, the Flemensfirth mare landed a point to point at Ballycahane back in March before resuming her career on the track. In her most recent outing at Naas she made a dreadful mistake at the first fence which saw drop right to the end of the field, although she failed to make up the lost ground she stayed on well in the last couple of furlongs and was far from disgraced.
She was easy to back on this occasion but that proved to be no handicap as she was never too far out of her ground before hitting the front on the run to the last fence and ran all the way to the line where she had a length and three parts to spare over the Rachael Blackmore ridden Kavanaghs Corner.
This looked to be a respectable effort by the seven-year-old and if retaining this level of form there is no reason why she cannot be placed to further success.
