New photobook of Nenagh through the ages
The Nenagh Guardian has just released a special collection of black and white photographs from its archives capturing a wonderful snapshot of our rich past. It covers all aspects of our lives, be it in sport, politics, schools and lifestyle, from a number of decades, capturing faces, events and occasions from days gone.
Editor Garry Cotter comments: “Over its long history, the Nenagh Guardian has consistently reported on life, sport and events in North Tipperary and its hinterland.
“Today we take for granted the photos that are used to accompany a story in newspapers, some are taken by our team of freelance photographers while others are captured by our readers on digital cameras and smartphones and then emailed in. However, you have to go back to 1953 to find the first inclusion of photographs in The Guardian. Many were of national focus rather than of local interest as their novelty proved popular with readers. Then over the next few years photographs began to be included both in news stories and sports reports.”
The publication - 'Nenagh Life Through the Lens' - is now available from The Guardian offices in Summerhill as well as some local stockists and is a perfect gift for someone this Christmas.
Meanwhile, we do hope you enjoy this photographic collection of memories.
