Johnnies' book a perfect stocking filler
'Dear Johnnies', the hilarious 'agony-uncle'-styled first book from Tipperary's well-known comedy duo, is out now.
The year was 2010. Life had been ticking along just fine for Johnny B (O'Brien) and Johnny Smacks (McMahon). Johnny B was travelling the country as part of a wedding band and Johnny Smacks - originally from Roscrea - had just moved to Cahir, where he worked at the local butchers. They became roommates, quickly bonded over a shared love of music, comedy and the GAA, and the rest is history.
Now hugely popular comedians the 2 Johnnies are the hosts of the phenomenally popular '2 Johnnies Podcast'. Together they have had five number one singles, as well as a sold-out live tour. It was also recently revealed that the Johnnies' parody song 'Could Have Been County' was among the top five most popular vidoes on You Tube in 2019.
And their new book, 'Dear Johnnies: The 2 Johnnies Solve All Your Problems', was launched last month.
The idea for the book grew from a popular (and hilarious) segment on their podcast, where distressed fans write in letters with their problems while the 2 Johnnies act as agony uncles, answering their questions. The book covers all sorts of problems, from housemates to having a baby, from moving to Dublin, to social media and, of course, the GAA.
Packed with sound advice and personal anecdotes, this is the perfect stocking filler for anyone who has ever wondered how to handle a hopeless housemate, or whether they should get a spray tan before a big match...
A very well-written and entertaining read, 'Dear Johnnies: The 2 Johnnies Solve All Your Problems' is out now and available in local book shops.
