AET - Killavilla win 4-2 on penalties

Killavilla United retained the Ricky Fogarty Cup on Sunday with a penalty shootout victory over Nenagh Celtic.

The sides were level at 2-2 after extra time but Killavilla proved to be more efficient from the spot and two misses from Celtic proved the Nenagh side’s downfall.

There was a good turnout in Ballinree for this eagerly awaited game featuring the two top sides in the NT&DL over the last couple of seasons. Celtic had secured the league title with a draw against Villa in a thrilling encounter between the sides in November and the Roscrea side were out for some measure of revenge.

Celtic were dealt a huge blow before the game with the absence of the excellent Paul Walsh and Szymon Popiela through illness although Villa had a loss of their own with captain John Cordial a long term absentee through injury.
