Sallypark Odhrans produced a huge upset at the weekend with a 2-1 home win over Killavilla United to book their place in the Tipperary Cup semi-final.

Villa came into this game as red hot favourites having recently claimed the Rick Fogarty Cup and finishing as runners up in the Premier division.

Sallypark though, have form in this competition, reaching the final last season and knocking out Thurles Town in an earlier round this year.

Killavilla started the stronger and took the lead with a penalty midway through the opening half with Tom Ahern dispatching from the spot. The home side equalised before the break however, with Sean Ryan finishing to make it 1-1.

In the second half, Sallypark took an unlikely lead, Brian Duffy won the ball in midfield and played in Sean Ryan who again finished confidently to send the home wild.

Then Sallypark looked to have doubled their advantage through a header from Paddy Shanahan, but referee pulled it back for an offside which looked tight.

Villa applied pressure for the remainder of the game but to no avail, with Sally’s Eoin Ryan and Tim O’Connell holding out well in defence to secure a famous win for Eugene Foley’s side.
