Sheedy happy with what he got from defeat

Tipperary manager Liam Sheedy wasn't getting too preturbed by another narrow defeat in Saturday's round 2 National Hurling League game with Cork.

We don’t do pressure,” Sheedy said.

We lost three or four games in the league by one point last year, and ultimately you’re looking for performances, for one or two guys to put their hands up for the championship.

Ultimately I'm very happy with the panel I’m assembling for 2020, they’re really good guys who are training really hard. They’re hugely committed to the jersey and the county and every time they go out they're looking to do well

They were right into it to the death, anyone who was here saw a really good game, it was exciting, with great scores on each side.”

The concession of two poor goals by their standards proved to be Tipperary's undoing despite forcing Cork keeper Patrick Collins into two fine saves in added time. However, Sheedy felt Cork were always forcing the agenda right through.

In fairness, Cork had a lot of wides, they had the better of it in the first half,” Sheedy said.

Coming up to half time we were level but they got 1-1, so that four points . . . obviously, when you lose a match by two that was critical.

In the second half we were very spirited and that's probably what pleases me most tonight, in the second half we never stopped trying."
