Tipperary’s winless run in under 20/21 stretched to five years following defeat to Limerick in the Munster Under 20 Football quarter final last Wednesday.

Not since defeating Dublin in the 2015 All Ireland semi-final have the premier county being successful in the grade as Tipperary’s struggles at underage football goes on.

“Another frustrating year. A one point defeat, what can you say,” admitted Tipperary manager Tom McGlinchey.

For a second year in a row, they lost to an injury time point at the hands of Limerick, this time with Barry Colman’s 61st minute score denying Tipperary to made a brave comeback, coming from three points down with ten minutes to go in desperate conditions.

All the momentum was with Tipperary following Kevin Grogan’s equaliser two minutes from time but missed chances and sloppy play undid some decent approach work.

“We missed some good chances,” McGlinchey added.

“We kicked in some high ball, took the wrong option and the final pass tended to go astray, simple things like that.”
