Top award for Birdhill coffee roasters

Anthony Fitzgerald, Head of Enterprise, Local Enterprise Office Tipperary, presented a prize fund of €2,500 to Alan Andrews, owner of The Old Barracks Coffee Roasters in Birdhill last Monday. The artisan coffee roastery commenced trading in 2018 and now employs 10 people in Tipperary.
The Old Barracks Coffee Roasters will now advance to represent Tipperary at this year’s National Enterprise Awards which carries a prize fund worth €40,000 and takes place in Dublin’s Mansion House on May 28th.  
The Old Barracks Coffee Roasters located in Birdhill showcases live coffee roasting via state-of-the-art coffee roasting management technology that allows the company to deliver consistency and quality coffee. The Old Barracks has showcased its roasting at numerous events around the country and abroad, encouraging the growth of the business on the wholesale side. In a short space of time, the Old Barracks’s coffee has become a trusted provider, winning many high-end coffee wholesale partners, which validates the quality of the product. It has also put Birdhill on the map as a tourist destination through their work with Fáilte Ireland and Ireland’s Hidden Heartlands. The Old Barracks Coffee Roasters has grown steadily in terms of coffee supply in Ireland and is preparing for export as the next stage in the company’s growth. 
The National Enterprise Awards celebrates its 22nd anniversary this year and was introduced to recognise the achievements and contribution of Ireland’s small firms.
