Over 150 volunteers to help those in need

Over 150 volunteers have answered the call to support those in need with the newly-formed Community Assistance-Tipp North group.
Organiser Damian O'Donoghue of Nenagh this week took the opportunity to praise all involved and to renew the offer of assistance for those who need it. “Firstly, I would just like to thank all of the people who have offered their help to our group over the past few weeks,” he said. “We now have over 150 volunteers who are willing to deliver supplies to the elderly or people who are self-isolating. During the last week the group has made dozens of supply runs locally, and we have been able to assist everyone who has gotten in touch with us.
“All of our volunteers are divided into zones based on their location so there will always be someone there to assist anybody who needs help. This assistance is fully confidential and all of our volunteers are briefed on HSE social distancing-guidelines before any callouts. Local businesses are making a big effort also, and some of them are now operating their own delivery service.
“Personally, I have never been part of a community effort of this magnitude and I am very proud of everyone's contribution. The key is to make sure that nobody gets left behind so I would ask everybody reading this to think of your own parishes, streets, estates and roads, and if there is somebody who you think may need help, give them a ring and check in on them.
“Táimid níos láidre le chéile.”
