GAA, Camogie and Ladies Football reveal Return to Play Roadmap

The GAA, An Cumann Camogaíochta and the LGFA have published a plan for a safe return to Gaelic games for the three organisations.

The plan is the work of a specially appointed Advisory Committee, which included representatives of all three bodies, the GPA and a number of medical experts.

It offers a route back to activity, subject to the government timelines being achieved in the weeks and months ahead.

It is broken down into sections covering Medical Advice; Preparing for a Safe Return; Information for Players and Team Personnel; Summary and Checklist; Roadmap for Return to Activity

Some of the stand-out elements of the report include:

- From Monday 8th June, all dedicated GAA walking tracks may be used for recreational use in groups of not more than four people.
• A gradual return to on-field non-contact activity in Phase Three of the Government plan in small groups from June 29th.
Training to commence for all adult and juvenile teams.
Access to indoor facilities not permitted
• A return to contact training on July 20th with club competitions to begin on Friday 31st July but use of dressing rooms won’t be permitted until August 10th.
• Adult championships to be concluded by October 11th (11 weekends to run off)
• Inter-county training will not be allowed to resume until 14th September with championship to start no earlier than October 17th.

The document mirrors the Government roadmap and outlines the opt-in approach of the wider Gaelic games family regarding a possible return to activity and play.
It is being distributed to all units with a view to providing them with time to put in place the necessary arrangements to facilitate a return to activity.

This includes clubs putting a Covid Supervisor in place and all players must complete a health questionnaire prior to each training session/game and if their temperature is over 37.5 degrees, that person must be sent home.
All players/coaches must use hand sanitizer on entry and exit from grounds.
All club facilities must have adequate signage on Covid-19 and access to hand sanitizer.
