Nenagh Castle is open again
Nenagh Castle has reopened to visitors again from Tuesday to Saturday, 10am to 1pm and 2-4pm. The Castle Field and Gill's Garden remain open until 5.15pm.
Castle guide Kevin Whelan has seen a great deal of visitors through the door of the castle since it reopened – most of them are from Dublin. He pointed out that protective measures against Covid-19 are in place, including hand sanitisers, a one-way system and multiple singage.
Admission to the castle is free and Mr Whelan can give guided tours of the keep and its incredible history. He was delighted to see use being made of the castle grounds and Gill's Garden by local groups, including tai chi and yoga classes, and Nenagh Book Club.
He also pointed out that nearby Nenagh Heritage Centre is also open and presently features a special exhibition on the life of Nenagh Olympian Bob Tisdall, as well as well as the various displays documenting Nenagh's past in the site of the town's old gaol complex.
