Harty Cup to go straight knockout
The Munster Post Primary Schools Senior 'A' Hurling – Dr Harty Cup will be played on a knockout basis for the coming year.
Owing to the Covid-19 restrictions and the playing of the inter-county minor and under 20 championships in the autumn and winter, Munster GAA have been forced to change the format of the competition from round-robin to straight knockout with the first round pencilled in for 9th Dec.
The draw is: 1 - Cashel CS v St Flannan's Ennis; 2 - St. Francis College Rochestown v Our Lady's SS Templemore; 3 - Causeway Comprehensive v De La Salle Waterford; 4 - Ardscoil Ris v St. Colman's Fermoy; 5 - Blackwater CS Lismore v Thurles CBS; 6 - Nenagh CBS v Midleton CBS; 7 - Gaelcholaiste Mhuire AG v CBC Cork; 8 - Tulla bye. The quarter finals with see the winners of 1 v 2; 3 v 4; 5 v 6; 7 v 8.
The draw throws up the potential quarter-final between Nenagh CBS and Thurles CBS. However, Nenagh will have it all to do against a very strong Midleton, but Nenagh will have home advantage while the quarter finals will also be played in the home venue of the first numbered team. Where possible, efforts will be made to avoid a school playing away twice in a row in the same competition.
The draws for the 2020/2021 Corn Ui Mhuiri Under 19 'A' Football competition was also made: 1 - Mercy Mounthawk Tralee v St Francis College, Rochestown; 2 - SP Rathmore bye; 3 - PS Chorcha Dhuibhne v Hamilton HS Bandon; 4 – De La Salle Macroom v St Flannan's Ennis; 5 - Col Chriost Ri v Col Choilm; 6 - IS Killorglin v St Brendan's Killarney; HS Clonmel v Clonakilty CC; Tralee CBS bye. Quarter-Finals – 1 v 2; 3 v 4; 5 v 6; 7 v 8
The first round fixtures are scheduled for December 2nd with the first named school at home. All fixtures are subject to change depending on the status of the Covid-19 Virus and the availability of schools.
