Flooding and traffic calming measures highlighted in Carrigahorig

A delegation from Carrigahorig recently met with representatives of Tipperary Co Council over future plans for the village.

Welcoming the meeting, Cllr Michael O'Meara hoped work would begin as soon as possible in raising the main road to alleviate flooding and installing traffic calming measures in the village. He told this month's meeting of Nenagh Municipal District that it should be possible to do the two jobs in tandem.

Cllr Joe Hannigan said there are speeding problems in the village and there was an accident on R493 side last year; a footpath is required on this side. Cllr Ger Darcy said something must also be done about the bend on the N52 outside the village.

Director Marcus O'Connor described the meeting with the local delegation as productive. Carrigahorig is on the council's works programme but there are other projects in the county that have been assigned higher priority, including schemes in Tipperary Town and Carrick-on-Suir.
