Nenagh saddened at death of man in New Zealand surfing accident
Many in the local community were saddened to learn of the death of Adrian King following a surfing accident in New Zealand last week.
Adrian (47) of Ohope, New Zealand and formerly of Nenagh and Rosedale, Dunboyne, Co Meath, died on Monday of this week after a tragic surfing accident on Thursday last, April 8th. He was married to Sinead Ní Shlatarra of Ballyannymore, Nenagh, whose family runs the Agritech business at Ballyanny.
Salt Spray Surf School of Ohope Beach reported on its Facebook page that "father and friend of many of us, Adrian King, rode his last wave out at West End, Ohope. A group of our instructors pulled Adrian from the water and we cannot thank them enough for that immense effort. Sadly, he was unable to be saved."
A Give a Little fundraising page was set up in New Zealand for friends, family and the community who would like to join in supporting Adrian's wife and three young children. It can be visited at https://givealittle.co.nz/cause/help-us-support-the-king-family
Adrian is sadly missed by his heartbroken and loving soulmate, wife Sinead, son Alexander, daughters Alannah and Selena; his mother Janine, father-in-law Jimmy, brothers-in-law Eoin, Seamus and Brian, and a large circle of family and friends. Memorial service took place in Ohope, New Zealand, on Monday. May he rest in peace.
