Catalytic converter theft near Nenagh

Gardaí have reported widespread thefts of catalytic converters from cars across Tipperary in recent months, including one outside Nenagh last week.

The device was stolen from a vehicle at Ballinaclough overnight between Wednesday and Thursday last. Witness information is sought.

There have been several similar incidents reported in the south of the county. Gardaí believe organised criminals are involved and are asking people to report any suspicious activity immediately.

Witnesses are also sought over an incident in which several bales were slashed with a knife at Drinagh, Lorrha, some time over the weekend before last.

Gardaí are investigating a house burglary at Tullaskeagh Road, Roscrea, last Sunday. Entry was gained through the front door and the house was ransacked. The incident occurred between 11am and 2pm, and anyone who may have noticed anything suspicious in the area at the time is asked to contact the gardaí.

Elsewhere, a man was arrested on suspicion of drug driving after gardaí intercepted a vehicle being driven at speed in the Birdhill area at 3pm last Wednesday. The vehicle was seized and a file is being prepared for the DPP.

A female was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of an intoxicant at St Conlon's Road, Nenagh, at around midday last Thursday. Gardaí are also investigating the breaking of windows at a property on Church Road, Newport, overnight between Friday and Saturday.
