Community group end dinner deliveries

Last week the Community Assistance Group for North Tipperary, set up in the wake of the first lockdown last year, did their final weekly delivery from LANA restaurant in Nenagh. For 72 weeks in-a-row LANA has given the group 10-free meals to bring to people locally.

Damian O Donoghue, group organiser, thanked LANA for all their support. He said: "The weekly deliveries were important for a lot of people. During the first lockdown when people could not leave their homes it was necessary to deliver dinners and as time went on it also became about having a weekly chat. It was also great for our volunteers to get out and meet people also, especially in January which was a difficult month for a lot of people.

“I’d also like to thank other local people, businesses and groups for all their help. To mention a few others - D’mothers cafe, Richard’s Chinese Takeaway, Mamas, the Thatch Cottage, Simply Food, Bistro 41, the NTDC, Ryan’s fruit and veg, the Food Bank, resident groups who took turns to cook for people, individuals who donated and of course all the volunteers.”

The group can still assist people on a one off basis if people need a dinner as they will continue to work with Lana and other local businesses. They can be contacted via their Facebook page (Coronavirus Communty Assistance-North Tipp) or by ringing 087 9590206.
