‘Can you see the wind?’ One of over 30 photographs in the Lens by the Lake exhibition by Coolbawn photographer Michael Molamphy, which is currently underway at Portumna Castle Gallery from 10am to 5pm each day.

Coolbawn inspires photo exhibition

Lens by the Lake, a collection of images from Michael Molamphy, Coolbawn, depicting flora, fauna and lakeshore life in a quiet corner of Lough Derg are now on display in Portumna Castle Gallery.

Most photographs were taken within a one-mile radius of Skehanagh, Coolbawn and focus on the beauty found in the common flowers, birds and lakeshore scenes. The exhibition contains over 30 images, printed on canvas while a video installation features a spectacular starling murmuration on Lough Derg.

A second screen depicts a collection of images, revealing the abundance of wildlife in the area where all photographs were again taken within a short distance of Coolbawn. Michael comments: “While this is an exhibition of photographs, I would prefer to see it as a focus on the amazing sights that are all around us on a daily basis but often go unnoticed due to the myriad of distractions continuously vying for our attention.”

The exhibition takes place at the Portumna Castle Gallery from 10am-5pm from September 16 and will run for a number of weeks.
